If you are using iOS, make sure to toggle on the notifications for calls & messages, and tap "Pair" when prompted.
Android
Step 1: Enable notification access permissions
On Android, there are actually two settings that control notifications:
i) App level notifications, which allows an individual app to give you push notifications
ii) Notification access permissions, which allows an app to read your notifications from other apps
You will need to make sure you grant access to permission to the Vue app for (ii). For example, here's a tutorial on how to do it on Samsung, which is similar for most other phones: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGwPPED9X_o.
This will allow Vue to read your notifications from other apps, and alert you. In the Vue app, you will need to select which apps you want to be notified for.
Step 2: Disable battery optimization for the Vue app
For notifications to consistently work, the Vue app needs to run in the background while connected to Vue. On Android, apps running in the background are automatically killed if they are inactive after a while. This will cause the Vue app to disconnect from your glasses, and you won't be able to receive notifications. To resolve this, you will need to disable battery optimization for the Vue app. To do so:
1. Go to Battery Optimization in your phone's Settings. Depending on your phone brand, this may be under:
- Settings > Apps & notifications > Advanced > Special app access > Battery optimization
- Settings > Apps > App launch
- Settings > Battery > Apps
2. Select the Vue app, and choose "Don't optimize" or toggle on "Run in background".
